Plant characters:

Perennial herbs, 50-80 cm high. Taproot deep long, rodlike, slightly woody. The dry roots are cylindrical, rarely divergent, the upper end is thick, the lower end is thin, the two ends are flat, 20 ~ 70cm long, 1 ~ 3cm thick, the surface is grayish yellow or light brown, all have irregular longitudinal wrinkles or grooves, the gas is weak and specific, the taste is slightly sweet, chewing it has bean smell.
